Ingredients
- 1 lb Mild or Hot ground Italian Sausage
- 1 med onion
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 can (14.5 oz each) Diced tomatoes, undrained
- 8 oz can tomato sauce
- 6 oz can tomato paste
- 1 T brown sugar
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 t dried oregano
- 2 t dried basil
- 1 t salt
- 1/2 t dried thyme
- 1/4 c minced fresh basil, divided
- Hot cooked pasta

Preparation
Step 1
In lg skillet cook sausage & onion over med heat 7-8 min until sausage is no longer pink & onion is tender. Add garlic; cook 1 min longer. Drain. Transfer to 3 at slow cooker.
Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, bay leaves, oregano, dried basil, salt & thyme. Cover & cook on low for 6-8 hrs.
Discard bay leaves; stir in half of fresh basil. Serve with pasta. Top with remaining basil.
