Armenian Spice Cake


Annie's recipe for an exiting and spicy Armenian cake. This one is a keeper!

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 cups self-raising flour
  • 125-g melted butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon bi-carb soda
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons nutmeg

Cooking time 75mins


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°F.

Mix together brown sugar and self-raising flour then add melted butter. Place half of mixture into bottom of greased and lined spring-form tin - press down.

In new bowl combine milk, bi-carb, egg, nutmeg and remaining dry mixture. Pour into tin on top of original mixture.

Bake for 1 hour.
