Ingredients

  • 8 medium size apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • water
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon or juice and rind of
  • half an orange or lemon

Preparation

Step 1

1. Wash, quarter and core apples.
2. Place in sauce pan and add water until
it can be seen in the spaces between
the apples when the pan is tipped-
about 1 cup.
3. Cover and cook slowly until the apples
are soft enough to be mashed against
the side of the sauce pan with a spoon.
4. Mash apples through colander or coarse
strainer.
5. Add sugar and flavoring; use more sugar
if needed.


NOTE: Apples may be pared before cooking.
If this is done no straining is
necessary.
