Sweet and Spicy Sausage Bites
Use spicy hot Italian sausage for these meatballs. It makes a wonderful flavor contrast to the sweet-spicy dip in this novel appetizer.
- 1 lb hot or mild italian sausage, cut into 1" chunks
- 1/2 cup plain low-fat yogurt
- 2/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup drained, chopped mango or peach chutney
- 3 tbsp minced green onion
- 1/4 tsp curry powder
- salt and black pepper
Preparation time 15mins
Place sausage in a shallow baking pan or oven-proof skillet.
Bake at 400º for 15 minutes, turning occasionally to brown all over.
Drain sausage pieces on paper toweling.
To prepare sauce, in a bowl, combine yogurt, mayonnaise, chutney, onion and curry powder. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
To serve, insert cocktail picks into sausage. Serve sauce alongside.
