- 4 cups McIntosh Apples, peeled and sliced
- 2/3 cup maple syrup
- 1/3 cup raisins
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup butter, cut into pieces
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup Buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish. In a saucepan, bring apples and syrup to a boil; simmer 3 minutes or until apple is softened. Add raisins. Pour into baking dish. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, and salt. Cut in butter using a pastry blender or two knives to make fine crumbs. In another bowl, beat egg, buttermilk and vanilla. Pour over flour mixture, stir just until combined. Drop by large spoonfuls onto warm fruit. Bake 30 minutes or until top is golden and cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm.
