Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3 T. flour
  • 2 t. flour
  • dash of salt
  • 1 (14 oz) can condensed milk
  • 2-1/2 c. half and half
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 2 t. vanilla
  • vanilla wafers
  • 6 large bananas

Preparation

Step 1

Combine sugar, flour and salt in heavy saucepan. Combine milks and egg yolks, stir well. Add to dry ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth and thickened. Remove pudding from the heat and stir in vanilla.

Arrange 1/3 of vanilla wafers in bottom of 3 quart dish. Slice 2 bananas over. Pour 1/3 of pudding over bananas. Repeat layers twice.

Either top with meringue or cool whip. If topping with meringue, use egg whites and top over pudding while it is hot. If topping with cool whip, cool completely before covering with cool whip.
