Ingredients

  • 6 oz bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 small clove garlic, minced
  • 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano, undrained
  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped green sweet pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 cup hot cooked penne
  • Shaved Parmesan cheese

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a medium skillet, cook sausage and garlic until meat is brown. Drain off fat.

2. meanwhile, in a 1 1/2-quart slow cooker, combine undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, sweet pepper and crushed red pepper. Stir in meat mixture.

3. Cover; cook on low for 8 to 9 hours or on high for 4 to 4 1/2 hours. Serve over hot cooked pasta. If desired, top with Parmesan cheese.
