  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • Filling and Cookies:
  • 9 ounces dried Mission figs, stems discarded
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 large egg, beaten to blend
