Preheat oven to 350. Line the bottoms of 3 8" cake pans with circles of parchment paper

  • For the cake:
  • 1 3/4 cup flour

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 1 tbsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 cup very hot, very strong coffee
  • For the buttercream:
  • 1 lb. unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup crushed graham crackers (you want them as close to powder as possible, so I find it's fastest to blitz them in a food processor)
  • 1 1/2 tsp. sea salt
