Orangeberry Shortcake Cookies

These orangeberry shortcake cookies are like fluffy little shortcakes in cookie form
- 12 ounces strawberries, hulled and cut into 1/4-inch pieces (2 cups)
- 1 tablespoon juice from an orange (or lemon)
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon orange zest (or lemon)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 2/3 cup fat free half and half

- 1/2 C. heavy cream

- 2 TBS. chopped fresh parsley

- 1/2 cup vegetable oil

- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 celery rib, thinly sliced

- 1 jalapeno or serrano pepper, stemmed, seeded and finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 teaspoon dried Mexican oregano, crumbled

- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup red wine, such as Merlot or Zinfandel
- 1 cup dark sweet cherries, stemmed, pitted and halved
- 1 stick cinnamon
- Strips of orange peel from 1 medium orange (orange part only)
- Sangria Martini Cocktail:
- Ice cubes
- 3 tablespoons (1 1/2 oz) citron (citrus) vodka
- 2 tablespoons (1 oz) clear orange-flavored liqueur
- 2 tablespoons (1 oz) sangria simple syrup, chilled (above)
