  • 1 /4 cup dark rum (I recommend Goslings or Bacardi Black Rum)
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 18 ounces granulated sugar (2 1/2 cups)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 /4 cup water
  • 1 /4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 /4 cup + 2 tablespoons dark rum, divided
