  • 4-6 cups chicken stock or enough to fill 2 inches above the beans in slow cooker. You can use water if you like.

  • 4 garlic cloves, left whole
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt or more to taste
