Basic and simple and yummy
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 2 large eggs
- 15 oz pumpkin puree
- 12 oz evaporated milk
- 1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell
Chicken and Dumplings

Stew: 1. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels, then season with salt and pepper
- Stew:
- 5 pounds bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
- 4 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (1/2 stick)
- 4 carrots , peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 2 ribs celery , sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 1 large onion , minced
- 6 tablespoon unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup dry sherry
- 4 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh thyme leaves
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 cup frozen green peas
- 3 tablespoons minced fresh parsley leaves
- Dumplings:
- 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon table salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 tablespoons reserved chicken fat (or unsalted butter)
Bacon-Wrapped Meat Loaf with Brown Sugar - Ketchup Glaze

Best meat loaf ever!
- Brown Sugar - Ketchup Glaze
- 1/2 cup ketchup or chili sauce
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 4 teaspoons cider vinegar or white vinegar
- Meat Loaf
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion , chopped medium
- 2 medium cloves garlic , minced
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon table salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
- 1/2 cup whole milk or plain yogurt
- 1 pound ground beef chuck
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/2 pound ground veal
- 2/3 cup Saltine crackers , crushed (about 16), or quick oatmeal, or 1 1/3 cups fresh bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup minced fresh parsley leaves
- 6 - 8 ounces bacon , thin sliced (8 to 12 slices, depending on loaf shape)

- 3 cups confectioner's sugar

- 1 cup sugar
- 4 oz semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped

Vegetable Stock

Combine all ingredients in a large stock pot, and bring to a boil
- 2 medium leeks, washed and chopped
- 4 onions, chopped
- 6 carrots, peeled and chopped
- 1 small bunch celery, chopped
- 1 small bunch parsley, chopped
- 3 bay leaves
- 2 tsp dried leaf marjoram
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1 1/2 gallons cold water

Chicken and dumplings - the ultimate comfort food
- 4 pounds chicken thighs and breast parts, skin-on, bone-in or for a quicker version use 2 1/2 pounds of chicken breasts.
- 2 teaspoons butter or olive oil
- Salt
- 1 quart chicken stock (homemade is best)
- 2 celery stalks, trimmed and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 3 medium carrots, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 large onion, roughly chopped
- 6 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 cup dry sherry or vermouth (optional)
- 1 Tbsp of heavy cream (optional)
- 3/4 cup frozen peas, thawed
- 1/4 cup minced fresh parsley leaves
- Ground black or white pepper
- 2 cups cake flour (can sub all-purpose flour, but use cake flour if you have it, your dumplings will be fluffier)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 Tbsp butter, melted
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup minced fresh herb leaves such as parsley, chives, and tarragon (optional)
Cauliflower and Kale Soup

In a large saucepan, saute onions and garlic in olive oil until onions are translucent
- 1/2 cup diced onions
- 1 Tbsp minced fresh garlic
- 1 1/2 tsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1 head cauliflower, washed, cored and chopped
- 3 1/2 cups Vegetable Stock
- 1 cup thinly sliced kale, lightly packed
- 1 tsp chopped fresh tarragon
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
