- 1 2-1/2- to 3- pound boneless pork sirloin roast
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 2 medium onions, cut into thin wedges
- 1 cup root beer
- 2 Tbsp. minced garlic
- 3 cups root beer (two 12-ounce cans or bottles)

- 6 to 8 dashes hot pepper sauce (optional)
