Creamy Macaroni and Cheese

Heat oven to 375 degrees and position an oven rack in upper third of oven
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup cottage cheese (not lowfat)
- 2 cups milk (not skim)
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- Pinch cayenne
- Pinch freshly grated nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 pound sharp or extra-sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1/2 pound elbow pasta, uncooked.
Blueberry Cherry Crisp

Broccoli Salad

1 Cook bacon (I make it easy and buy the already cooked bacon in the refrigerator section) and crumble into pieces
- 1 -2 head fresh broccoli (do not use frozen!)
- 1/2 cup red onion, chopped
- 1/2 lb bacon
- 2 1/2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 cup Hellmann's mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups grated mozzarella cheese

In a bowl or directly in your food processor, mix flour and salt together before adding in cold, cubed butter
- Pastry:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra as needed
- 2/3 cup ice water, plus extra as needed
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold, unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup shortening or lard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- Filling:
- 8 oz. ground beef (or skirt steak, finely chopped)
- 1 russet potato, peeled and diced
- 1 small turnip, peeled and diced
- 1 large carrot finely diced
- 1/2 white onion, chopped
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
