BLT Salad with Creamy Basil Dressing

Preparation: Dressing: In bowl, whisk together basil, yogurt, mayonnaise, vinegar, salt and pepper
- Dressing:
- 8 slices bacon, chopped
- Half baguette
- 2 cloves garlic, halved
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 avocado
- 6 cups (1.5 L) torn romaine_lettuce (about 1 small head)
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) thinly sliced red onion
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) finely chopped fresh basil (or 1 tsp/5 mL dried)
- 1/4 cup (50 mL) plain yogurt
- 1/4 cup (50 mL) light mayonnaise
- 2 tsp (10 mL) sherry vinegar or wine_vinegar
- Pinch each salt and pepper
Antipasto (Preserved) Recipe

Scrape carrots, and slice or cut into fingers
- 6 carrots
- pickled onions or 1/2 pound silver-skin onionsb
- 1 small cauliflower
- 3 green peppers
- 3 sweet red peppers
- 3/4 pound mushrooms
- 1 small eggplant
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 3/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup vinegar
- 5 cups ketchup
- 1 tablespoon monosodium glutamate (optional)
- 1 can or jar black olives, drained
- 2 jars stuffed olives, drained
- 1 can cut green beans, drained
Broccoli Salad

Trim off the large leaves from the broccoli stem
- 1 head broccoli
- 6 to 8 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/2 cup chopped red onion
- 1/2 cup raisins, optional
- 8 ounces sharp Cheddar, cut into very small chunks
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup halved cherry tomatoes
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper

- 1 medium uncooked onion(s), diced
- 1 medium sweet red pepper(s), diced
- 1 rib(s) (medium) uncooked celery, diced

Whisk together with a small whisk until well mixed
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. powdered sugar
- 1-2 Tbsp. cocoa powder (depending on how chocolatey you want your cake)
