- 2 slices thick-cut bacon
- 1 tablespoon caramel sauce
- 2 (1 ounce) squares bittersweet chocolate, unwrapped
Broccoli Stir-fry (orange and ginger)

Ginger and orange make this quick stir-fry deliciously tangy and flavorsome
- 1 1/2 lb broccoli, broken into florets
- 2 slices (nobs) fresh ginger root
- juice of 1 orange (save rind)
- 2 tsp cornflower
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 4 Tbsp water
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
- matchstick strips of orange rind, soaked in cold water
Chicken and Squash Tagine

- Moroccan Spice Mixture: In a bowl, mix together:
- 1 recipe Moroccan Spice Mixture (see recipe below)
- 2 pounds meaty chicken pieces (breast halves, thighs, and drumsticks) skinned
- 3 teaspoons olive oil
- 2 medium onions, cut into wedges
- 6 large garlic cloves, halved lengthwise
- 5 to 6 threads saffron, crushed
- 1 2-1/2 - to 3-pound butternut squash, seeded, peeled, and cut into 1-inch chunks
- 1 cup chicken broth or water
- 1 cup golden raisins
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1/4 cup snipped fresh parsley
- 2 teaspoon salt; 1 teaspoon each of crushed red pepper, ground cardamom, ground cloves, turmeric, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and ground coriander; and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Makes about 3 tablespoons.
Carrot and Zucchini Mini-Muffins (gluten free)

- Muffins:
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup brown rice flour
- 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup grapeseed oil
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup grated carrots (from1 medium peeled carrot)
- 1/2 cup grated zucchini (from 1 medium unpeeled zucchini)
- 1/2 cup raisins
- Frosting (optional):
- 1 cup whipped cream cheese, at room temperature (about 8 ounces)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons honey

- Leaves from 1/4 bunch fresh thyme
