- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup diced apple without peel
- 1 cup chopped walnuts

CRUST: In a bowl, combine flour, brown sugar and salt; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs
- Filling:

- 1/2 C. packed brown sugar

- 3 cups chopped fresh or frozen rhubarb, thawed and drained
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 3 - 4 drops red food coloring, opt.
