Buttermilk French Toast

Serve with fresh berries and a dusting of confectioners' sugar
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon Grand Marnier, optional
- 2 loaves French bread
- Unsalted butter, for frying

Directions: Heat the cooking oil in a wok or large skillet over medium heat
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 tbsp peanut or vegetable oil
- 3 tbsp uncooked jasmine, long-grain, or sticky rice (or 3 tbsp store-bought toasted rice powder)
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1-2 tsp chili sauce (I use Sambal Oelek)
- 1 tsp sugar
- Juice from 1 lime
- 1 shallot, thinly sliced
- 1 or 2 scallions, chopped
- 1 small handful cilantro
- 1 small handful mint
- 1 small handful basil leaves (optional)
- 3 or 4 dried red chilis or chopped serrano pepper (optional)
- 1 head of Boston lettuce, separated into leaves

- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 medium-size red bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cups chopped cooked chicken
- 3 (4-oz.) cans diced green chiles, divided

- 8 (8-inch) soft taco-size flour tortillas
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup milk

Cheddar Cheese Apple Pie

For the crust: In a food processor, combine the flour, sugar, salt, cold butter and grated cheese
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 2 sticks cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 1 1/4 cups packed grated sharp Cheddar (about 5 ounces)
- 4 tablespoons ice water, or more as needed
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 3/4 pounds Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- Pinch fine sea salt
- 3 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter, diced
- 1 beaten egg, for brushing
Apricot-Almond Cobbler

- 1/2 cup whole raw almonds
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- Salt
- Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
- 6 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup whole milk, room temperature
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 2 tablespoons almond-flavored liqueur, such as Amaretto
- 1 1/2 pounds apricots, halved lengthwise, pitted, and cut into 3/4-inch-thick wedges
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
Kansas City Rib Sauce

- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons olive oil

- 2 cloves garlic, minced
