Ingredients

  • Sauce:
  • 2 cups warm milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 T. butter
  • 2 cups day-old bread cubes plus 1/2 cup raisins
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/3 tsp. salt
  • 2 T. rum

Preparation

Step 1

Combine milk, sugar, salt, cinnamon, vanilla, and butter. Pour over bread cubes and allow to soak for 5 min. Add eggs and stir lightly with a fork.
Bake at 350 for about an hour. Pudding should be puffy and browned.

Prepare Sauce: Combine butter, sugar, and cream. Bring to a boil and simmer 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add pecans, vanilla, lemon juice, salt and rum. Serve hot or cold. Also can be topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
