Grilled Mushrooms With Cheese

  • 1/2 pound fresh mushrooms
  • 3 slices bacon
  • 6 slices toast
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 medium onion sliced in rings
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese


Servings 6


Step 1

Slice mushrooms. Fry bacon until crisp, drain and crumble. In 3 tablespoons of the bacon drippings, sauté mushrooms for 2 minutes.

Spread toast with mayonnaise, top with sautéed mushrooms, crumbled bacon, onion rings and cheese. Bake in preheated moderate oven (375 degrees) about 8 minutes or until cheese is melted.

This recipe yields 6 luncheon dish servings or cut into quarters and serve as an appetizer.
