Ingredients

  • 1 lb. bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 large sweet onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. Olive oil
  • 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp. minced fresh parsley
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp. coarsely ground pepper

Preparation

Step 1

In a large saucepan, cook the sausage, onion and garlic in oil until meat is no longer pink, drain.
Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 1 1/2 hours or until flavors are blended. Serve with pasta.
