Cheddar Ale Soup

1. Set a large saucepan or Dutch oven over medium heat and add bacon
- 6 thick-cut bacon slices, cut into 1/2" to 1" pieces
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, peeled and diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup pale ale
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 1/4 lb sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- kosher salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
- croutons
Mansion Barbecue Spice Mix

Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container away from heat and light
- 2 tbsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp curry powder
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp dry mustard
- 1 tsp coriander
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

- 2 tablespoons grated lemon rind, divided

- 5 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

- 1 lb blue crabmeat
- 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
