Trio Layer Cake

- 3 c. flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. butter
- 1/8 tsp. soda
- 1 1/2 T. hot water
- 1 square unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
Chewy Brownie

- 2/3 c. nuts, chopped
- 2 squares chocolate or 4 T. cocoa
Banana Cookies

Mix brown sugar, shortening, egg and bananas
- Icing:
- 3/4 c. brown sugar
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 egg
- 2 medium-size ripe bananas
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 c. flour
- 6 T. brown sugar
- 4 T. cream
- 4 tsp. butter
Fire House Chili

Cook in crock pot for 4 hours
- 2 lbs. hamburger
- 1 med onion, chopped
- 46 oz. V8
- 2 T. chili powder
- 1 T. sugar
- 2 cans red kidney beans (drained)
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Butternut Squash Dip with Tahini and Pine Nuts

Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- 3 to 3 1/2 lb butternut squash or pumpkin
- 1/4 c. olive oil, plus extra for drizzling
- 1 tsp. fine sea salt
- 3/4 tsp. black pepper
- 2 T. roughly chopped fresh oregano or 2 tsp. dried
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 T. tahini
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 3/4 c. crumbled feta cheese
- 2 T. toasted pine nuts
