Melt butter in heavy large saucepan over medium-high heat
- 2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) butter
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3 garlic cloves, peeled, thinly sliced
- 1 cup bourbon, divided
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup hot pepper sauce (such as Crystal)
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 3 tablespoons (packed) golden brown sugar
- 30 chicken drumettes (about 4 pounds)
- Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce (see recipe in Sauces)
Homemade Peanut Butter

Preheat oven to 350 F. Spread raw peanuts in a rimmed baking sheet in a single layer
- Variations:
- 2 cups unsalted shelled peanuts, raw
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon honey, or to taste
- 1-1/2 teaspoons peanut oil, plus more as needed
- Variations:
- Crunchy Peanut Butter: Finely chop an additional 1/3 to 1/2 cup of roasted peanuts. Once peanut butter is combined, stir in chopped peanuts.
- Almond Peanut Butter: Substitute 1 cup of peanuts for 1 cup of almonds.
- Chocolate Peanut Butter: Increase oil to 3 tablespoons. Add 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder and 1-1/2 cups of confectioner's sugar, or to taste).
