- 1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves (1 to 1-1/4 pounds total)

Slow Cooker Beef Stew

Set the crock pot on low. In a bowl, mix together the salt, pepper and flour
- 2 lbs. beef stew meat, cubed
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 clove minced garlic
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 chopped celery stalk
- 1 chopped onion
- 4 sliced carrots
- 4 diced potatoes
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
Lentil and Barley Soup

Brown the beef and drain. Add lentils, barley, vegetable broth and beef broth
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups lentils
- 1 cup barley
- 12 cups vegetable broth
- 2-10 oz cans of beef broth
- 1 large stalk celery, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 4 cups chopped tomatoes
- 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 2 bay leaves

Preheat the oven to 325 F (160 C)
- crabmeat - 1/2 pound (250 g), jumbo lump
- cheddar cheese - 1 cup, shredded
- mozzarella - 1/2 cup, shredded
- pecorino cheese - 1/4 cup, finely grated
- mayonnaise - 1/2 cup
- garlic - 2 cloves, pressed
- worcestershire sauce - 3 tbsp
- lime - juice of 1
- tabasco - 1 tsp
- dijon mustard - 1 tbsp
- salt and pepper - use very generously
Persian Herb Stew (Khoresh-e Ghormeh Sabzi)

Clean and wash the herbs, dry thoroughly and chop finely
- 2 pounds meat (lamb or beef) washed and cubed
- 1 cup red kidney beans or pinto beans, soaked overnight
- 1 large yellow onion, finely chopped
- 4 bunches parsley
- 1 bunch cilantro
- 2 large leeks or 4 scallions (green stems only)
- 1 small bunch fresh fenugreek, or 1 tablespoon dried fenugreek (shanbalileh), too much fenugreek will cause ghormeh sabzi to taste bitter
- 2 bunches fresh spinach
- 3-4 dried lemons (limoo amani), or 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil
- Water
Basil Pesto

Place the basil, parsley, pine nuts, garlic, olive oil and Parmesan in a blender or food processor
- 1 1/2 packed cups fresh basil leaves, washed, dried
- 1/4 cup Italian parsley leaves, washed and spun dry
- 1/4 cup toasted pine nuts
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3/4 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- salt and freshly ground pepper
