Apple Crisp Baked Apples

Today, I will share an easy recipe that is both sweet and good for you
- 3 - 4 red apples - (we are not sure what variety is produced by our tree, which are in this particular version!)
- 4 T. butter
- 1/3 cup firmly packed Splenda brown sugar (or reg. brown sugar)
- 1/3 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1/3 cup oats
- 1/4 t. cinnamon, optional
- 1/4 t. nutmeg, optional
- 2 cups apple cider, optional (otherwise, use water)

- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs, large
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups unbleached or all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (approximately 2 cup)
- 6 ounces milk chocolate chips (approximately 1 cup)
