- 2 tablespoons bourbon or apple cider
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped or 1/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips

- Champagne or Sparkling Wine
- 1 16 oz. can vanilla frosting
- Few drops red food coloring

Daube a la Provencale - French Beef Stew

Directions Marinate the beef in the red wine, vinegar, carrots and 1/2 of the onions for 6 hours or overnight
- Macaronade:
- 2 pounds beef chuck, cut into 3-inch pieces
- 2 cups red wine
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 2 carrots, roughly chopped
- 2 onions, sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 strips bacon, cut into lardons
- 4 stems fresh rosemary
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme
- 3 cloves garlic, smashed
- 2 bay leaves
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Macaronade, recipe follows, for serving
