  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 6 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, divided
  • 3 1/2 to 41/2 cups Ultimate Turkey Stock or low-salt chicken broth, divided

Spread cream cheese mixture over bottom of a 10-inch round serving plate

  • Topping:
  • Layered Oriental Appetizer
  • 3/4 C. small cubed chicken
  • 1/2 C. shredded carrots
  • 1/2 C. chopped unsalted cashews or peanuts
  • 3 T. sliced green onions
  • 1 T. chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 T. soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. ginger
  • In a small bowl, combine all topping ingredients. Mix well. Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight to blend flavors.
  • Zippy Sweet-and-Sour Sauce:
  • 1/4 C. packed brown sugar
  • 2 -/12 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1 C. water
  • 1/4 C. ketchup
  • 2 T. vinegar
  • 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 drops hot pepper sauce
  • In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar and cornstarch. Mix well. Gradually stir in remaining sauce ingredients. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, or until mixture thickens, stirring frequently. Cool.
  • Base:
  • 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 T. milk
  • (For a thicker base, use one 8 oz. pkg. plus a 3 oz. pkg. and 1-1/2 T. milk.)
  • In a small bowl, combine cream cheese and milk. Beat until smooth and fluffy.
  • Spread cream cheese mixture over bottom of a 10-inch round serving plate. Spoon topping evenly over cream cheese. Drizzle with 1/4 to 1/2 cup sauce. Serve with crackers. To store remaining sauce, cover and refrigerate.
