Skewered Ginger Beef

In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the first eight ingredients; add steak
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 bunch green onions, sliced
- 6 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds, toasted
- 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger or
- 2 teaspoons grated fresh gingerroot
- 2 teaspoons pepper
- 2 pounds beef sirloin steak, cut into 1/4-inch strips
Sweet Sausages Braised in Onions with Horseradish Smashed Potatoes

- 2 pounds small red potatoes, cut into quarters

- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1 rounded tablespoon prepared horseradish
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup milk, depending on how you like your mashers
- 1/4 cup fresh flat-leaf parsley (a couple of handfuls), chopped

- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1/3 cup oil

- 8-10 medium potatoes, peeled and cut in half
- 3 onions, finely chopped
- 1 Ib bacon, thinly chopped
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
