Creamy Tomato Soup

In a saucepan, saute onion in butter until tender
- 1 medium onion
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cans(14 1/2 oz)diced tomatoes, undrained

- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
