Mom's recipe
- Mix together like a pie crust:
- 3 cups flour
- 2 tbsp white sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Rest of ingredients:
- 1 package yeast
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup sugar
GLAZED SPARERIBS (AUNT IDA)

Separate ribs. Place in kettle with onion and cover with water and boil
- 2 1/2 lbs spareribs
- 1 sliced onion
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp curry powder
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/3 cup cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp soya sauce
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1/8 tsp cloves
DUCHESS POTATOES

- 2 1/2 lbs russet potatoes
- 6 large egg yolks, at room temperature
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into 8 pieces, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup whippping cream, at room temperature
- 1 tsp Kosher salt, plus more as needed
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1/8 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
- 1/2 cu finely shredded Swiss cheese, grated on the small holes of a box grater (about 1 oz)
SPAGHETTI SQUASH ALFREDO WITH PANCETTA & PEAS

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
- 1 1 3 medium spaghetti squash (about 3 pounds)
- 4 4 3/4 ounces Pancetta, diced (about 3/4 cup)
- 1 1 1 small shallot, diced
- 1 1 1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
- 1/4 1/4 1/4 cup dry white wine
- 1 1/2 1 1/2 1/2 cups heavy cream
- Pinch Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
- 1 1 1 cup frozen peas, thawed
- 1/2 1/2 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese (about 1 ounce)
- 2 2 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
SAFFRON BROWN RICE WITH SHRIMP & CHORIZO

In saucepan, heat oil over medium heat; cook onion, stirring often, until tender, about 5 minutes
- 2 tsp canola oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup whole grain 20 minute brown rice (such as Uncle Ben's)
- 1/4 tsp saffron threads
- 2 cups sodium-reduced chicken broth
- 3/4 cup sliced chorizo sausage
- 1 lb jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Pinch each of salt and pepper
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1/3 cup cilantro, chopped
PEPPER JELLY & BASIL PORK TENDERLOIN

To prepare sauce, combine all ingredients except pork in a small saucepan
- 1 cup green or red pepper jelly
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 1 1/2 teaspoons basil, crumbled
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 pork tenderloins, 3/4 pound each
SALMON PATE

Mix all ingredients together in blender until smooth
- 1 , 7 oz can salmon, drained
- 2 tbsp minced onion
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup melted
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 tsp minced fresh dill
- Salt and pepper to taste
MUSTARD-GLAZED STANDING ROAST WITH PAN GRAVY

Combine mustard, oil, soy sauce, garlic, parsley, pepper and rosemary
- Gravy:
- 1/3 cup (80 mL) Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons (30 mL) olive oil
- 2 tablespoons (30 mL) soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon (15 mL) chopped garlic
- 2 tablespoons (30 mL) chopped parsley
- 1 tablespoon (15 mL) coarsely ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon (15 mL) chopped fresh rosemary or thyme, or 1/4 teaspoon (1 mL) dried
- 1 7-pound (3.15 kg) standing rib roast
- Salt to taste
- Pan drippings
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) chopped shallots
- 2 tablespoons (30 mL) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) red wine
- 1 tablespoon (15 mL) balsamic vinegar
- 3 cups (750 mL) beef stock
- 1 teaspoon (5 mL) tomato paste
PARMESAN & PARSLEY BREAD

Combine all ingredients except bread until blended
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 2 tbsp freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
- 1 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
- Pinch fresh ground pepper
- 1 loaf French bread, halved lengthwise
GRAPE JELLY MEATBALLS

Combine ground beef, egg, onion, salt and pepper
- 2 lbs extra lean ground beef
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 large onion, grated
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 bottle chili sauce
- 1/2 large jar grape jelly
- juice of 1 lemon
