1. Chop 1 garlic clove, heat 1 tablespoon oil in saucepan over med heat
- 3 medium cloves of garlic, divided
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 can (28 oz) diced whole tomatoes in juice (DO NOT DRAIN)
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil
- 1/4 cup white wine
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 pound penne pasta

1. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it stand for 1 minute, or until the yeast is creamy
