Slow-Cooker Beef and Barley - Food Network Magazine

Combine the beef, barley, mushrooms, celery, carrots, leeks, thyme, beef broth and soy sauce in a slow cooker
- 1 1/4 pounds boneless beef chuck (in one piece)
- 1 cup pearl barley
- 1/2 pound cremini mushrooms, quartered
- 4 stalks celery, quartered
- 6 medium carrots, quartered
- 2 medium leeks, sliced (white and light green parts only)
- 1 sprig thyme
- 4 cups low-sodium beef broth
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
- Horseradish, for serving (optional)
Baked Ham Recipe with Fruit Glaze

Take the ham out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about an hour
- 1 15-pound bone-in smoked ham, labeled "ready to eat" or "ready to serve."
- 1 cup fruit preserves (apricot, peach or pineapple) (Also see variation below.)

- 3 links fresh Italian sausage with peppers and onion (or andouille)

- 1 (16-oz) bag frozen vegetable gumbo blend (okra, corn, onions, celery, bell peppers)
- 1/2 teaspoon Creole seasoning
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1 (32-oz) box low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 (10-oz) bag cooked chicken pieces
- 1 teaspoon reduced-sodium Worcestershire sauce
- 2 (10-oz) cans milder diced tomatoes/green chiles (undrained)

- 12 oz peeled/deveined medium shrimp (thawed; optional)
