Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups raisins
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice

Preparation
Step 1
Add 1 cup water to 2 cups raisins and boil for 5 minutes. Cool
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add vanilla and cooled raisin mixture (if you add the raisins when warm, the cookies are very soft)
Sift dry ingredients and add to raisin mixture.
Drop by teaspoonful onto cookie sheet
Bake 375 for about 11-15 minutes
