Japanese Salad Dressing

Pulse ginger, onion, and celery in a food processor until thoroughly combined
- 2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger root
- 1/3 cup minced onion
- 1/4 cup minced celery
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/2 lime, juiced
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil

1. In a medium bowl, dissolve 1 teaspoon of the yeast into 1/4 cup of the milk
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Pasta Puttanesca

Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a boil over high heat
- 3 Tbs. extra-virgin olive oil
- 4 large cloves garlic, minced
- 3 oil-packed anchovy fillets, finely chopped (scant 1 Tbs.)
- 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
- One 28-oz. can crushed tomatoes
- 1 lb. dried spaghetti
- 1/2 cup pitted brine-cured black olives, such as Kalamata, coarsely chopped
- 2 Tbs. nonpareil capers, rinsed and drained
- 1 Tbs. chopped fresh oregano or marjoram
- Freshly ground black pepper
Sicilian Style Pasta

Warm the olive oil over medium heat in a large saucepan
- 2 Cups cooked pasta (strozzapreti or penne pasta work well)

- 4-5 large basil leaves, torn
