Grandma's Brisket

When making this, there are NO absolutes! Each time I make it, I seem to make changes
- 6 to 7 pounds of brisket ( Costco is the best). Trim fat.
- 1 bottle of chili sauce
- 3 bay leaves
- 4 large onions, chopped
- 1 can of beef bouillon
- 2-3 pounds of baby carrots
- 1/2 cup water
- 1-2 tb. oil
- Garlic powder and pepper to taste
- OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS
- Dried apricots and prunes
- Additions to the sauce include 2 tb. Worchesteshire sauce, 3 tb. brown sugar, 1 cup of beer (delete water if this is added), 1 1/2 tb lemon juice.
Green Bean Casserole

A family favorite at the holidays or any time we get together
- 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. fresh green beans
- 1 can of cream of mushroom soup
- 1 large can of sliced water chestnuts- diced
- 1 large can of Durkee’s French Fried Onions
Jeanne's Cran-Apple Relish

This was served at a holiday party and was a big hit!
- 4 Cups fresh cranberries, ground
- 2-1/2 cups sugar or sugar substitute
- 2 medium apples, unpeeled, cored and ground
- 2 small oranges unpeeled and ground
- 1 small lemonm unpeeled and ground
- 1/2 cup currants
- 1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons orange flavored liquor
Jeanne's Holiday Green Salad

Nutritious and delicious! Amounts depend on personal preference and number of servings you need
- Romaine lettuce chopped or torn into small pieces
- Cucumbers- chopped into small pieces
- Dried craisins
- Sliced almonds
- Apricot stilton cheese or you can substitute dried chopped apricots and feta cheese
- Cilantro, chopped
- 1/2 lemon, juice squeezed from it
- 1/2 lime, juice squeezed from it
- Litehouse Brand Organic Raspberry Lime Vinaigrrette Salad Dressing (available at Vons or Ralphs)
Ahi Poke

- Ahi cut into cubes
- Cucumber diced
- Yellow and green onions
- Sesame oil
- Sesame seeds
- Sanbay Oelek Ground Chili Paste
- Soy Sauce
Leah's Watermelon Pickles

These pickles were a staple on the Rigler table in Rice Lake, Wisconsin
- 1 watermelon with thickest rind you can find
- 3 tb. salt
- 7 lbs sugar
- 2 quarts vinegar
- 10 whole cloves, 4 sticks cinnamon, 1 tb. whole pepper
- cheesecloth
- medium bottle of maraschino cherries
Matzo Bark

This is a traditional dessert at our Passover Sedars
- 3 slightly salted matzos
- 12 tbs. (1 1/2 sticks) of butter
- 3/4 cup packed golden brown sugar
- 2 t. water
- 1 12 oz package of chocolate chips
- 1 cup slivered almonds
Meatballs and Vegetables

This recipe originated in North Dakota
- 2 lbs. of ground beef
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup flour seasoned with salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup of oil
- 1 grated onion
- 2 medium onions chopped
- 2 cups of cut up carrots
- 1 large and 1 small can of chopped tomatoes
- 2 stalks of celery, chopped
- 1 1 lb. bag of frozen peas
- 4 potatoes
- butter, milk, salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup water
OOEY-GOOEY Butter Cake

Everyone always enjoys this
- BOTTOM LAYER
- 1 cube melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 package of yellow cake mix
- I use my electric mixer at low speed.
- Mix and press into oblong 9 by 13 inch pan.
- Wash out mixer bowl and beaters so you can use them for the top layer.
- TOP LAYER
- 1 8 oz. cream cheese
- 1 one pound box of powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
Pumpkin Bread

This has been a family favorite especially for the Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 cup salad oil
- 4 eggs (at room temperature)
- 2 cups canned pumpkin
- 2/3 cup water
- 3 1/3 cups flour
- 2 te baking soda (make sure it hasn’t expired)
- 1/2 te salt
- 1 te cinnamon
- 1 te ground nutmeg
