Boston Baked Beans

Adjust the oven rack to the lower-middle position
- 4 ounces salt pork, trimmed of rind and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 2 ounces bacon (2 slices), cut into 1/4-inch pieces
- 1 medium onion, chopped fine
- 1/2 cup mild molasses
- 1 tablespoon mild molasses
- 1 1/2 tabespoon brown mustard
- 1 lb. small dried white beans, rinsed and picked over
- table salt
- 1 teaspoon cider vinegar
Parmesan and Thyme Crackers

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter for 1 minute
- 1/4 pound unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 4 ounces freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh thyme leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
Pan-Seared Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts

- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (6 to 8 ounces each), trimmed of excess fat (see note)
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt or 1 teaspoon table salt

- For the cakes:
