MAGIC CHOCOLATE FLAN CAKE (Cook's Country)

1. FOR THE CAKE: Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 350 degrees

- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (I used Trader Joe’s salted caramel sauce and had a jar of Fran’s caramel sauce to drizzle on top when serving)
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 4 ounce bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- FLAN
- 2 (14-ounce cans) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 1/2 cups whole milk
- 6 ounces cream cheese
- 6 large eggs plus 4 large yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Fruit Loop Treats

Thoroughly grease a 9-inch-by-13-inch baking dish with softened butter
- 4 tablespoons salted butter, plus more softened butter, for greasing the baking dish
- One 10-ounce bag white mini marshmallows
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 6 cups fruit-flavored cereal rings, such as Froot Loops
- One 10-ounce bag rainbow mini marshmallows
- One 24-ounce package white almond bark

- 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp. fine sea salt
- 2 1/4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour, plus more for work surface
- ASSEMBLY:
- 1/4 cup walnuts, finely chopped
- 1 Tbsp. superfine sugar
- 1 Tbsp. light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. Dutch-processed cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup apricot or raspberry preserves
- unbleached all-purpose flour (for rolling out dough)
- confectioners' sugar, sifted (for serving)
