Ohio Shaker Lemon Pie Recipe

For the filling: Thoroughly wash lemons, then dry with paper towel
- FOR THE FILLING:
- 2 large lemons
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 4 eggs
- 1 cap of orange blossom water
- 4 tbsp. butter, melted
- 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
- FOR THE CRUST:
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 10 tbsp. cold butter, cut into pieces
- 2 tbsp. vegetable shortening
Pan-Fried Pork Chops and Blackberries

Sprinkle the chops with a generous amount of seasoning
- 4 (6-ounce) 3/4-inch thick bone-in pork chops
- Salt and pepper
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 2 cups blackberries
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves

Tiramisu

Combine the coffee and amaretto liqueur in a bowl or shallow baking dish and set aside
- 2 cups strongly brewed coffee
- 3 ounces amaretto liqueur (recommended: DiSaranno)
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 3/4 cup whipping cream, divided
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 cups mascarpone cheese
- 36 to 42 Italian-style hard ladyfinger biscuits
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, divided

- Tip: A French press with dark roasted coffee works well for the strongly brewed coffee.
Chicken Beer Braised

Heat a large pot over medium-high heat
- 1/4 pound slab or thick-cut bacon, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
- 6 skinless, boneless chicken thighs (about 1 1/4 pounds) (the original recipe calls for 8 skinless, boneless chicken thighs - about 2 1/2 pounds)
- 2 link andouille sausage, casing removed and chopped,
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
- All-purpose flour, for dredging
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 12-ounce beer (preferable brown ale)
- 1 cup frozen pearl onions (the original recipe says to thaw them)
- 1 pound small red-skinned potatoes, cut in chunks
- 2 ribs celery, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
- 2 to 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 bulb fennel chopped
- 1 cup carrots chopped
- 1 tablespoon whole-grain mustard 1 tablespoon bourbon molasses mustard (the original recipe calls for 2 tablespoons whole-grain mustard)
- 1 tablespoon packed dark brown sugar (the original recipe calls for 2 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar)
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme
- 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 (14-ounce) can diced tomatoes with chiles or stewed tomatoes
- 1 cup chicken stock
Cranberry-Orange Compote

In a medium straight-sided saute pan, add sugar and wine
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 bottle sweet Riesling wine
- 2 pounds fresh cranberries, washed
- 4 allspice berries
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 star anise
- 1 large or 2 small fresh bay leaf
- 1 orange, juiced and zested in strips
- 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
Peri Peri Chicken

- Ingredients
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/4 cup paprika
- 2 tablespoons hot chili powder
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 in piece fresh ginger
- 1 shallot
- 1 teaspoon coarse kosher salt

Cranberry Conserve Tricia's

In a medium heavy saucepan combine cranberries and water and cook until berries burst, about 10 minutes
- 1 pound fresh cranberries
- 1 cup water
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 whole orange, seeds removed, chopped (about 1 cup)
- 1 cup peeled and chopped apple
- 1 cup peeled and chopped pear
- 1 cup dried cherries
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 3/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans
French Onion Grilled Cheese

- 1 pound ripe tomatoes or peeled tomatoes (if in a hurry) used canned
- 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
- 2 cloves garlic, sliced
- 4 anchovy fillets
- 2 ounces pitted and sliced black olives
- 1 tablespoon salted capers, rinsed and chopped
