Colony Mountain Chili Recipe

My husband created this chili for a local cooking contest, and it won the People's Choice award
- 1 * 1 pound beef top sirloin steak, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
- 4 * 4 Italian sausage links, casings removed and cut into 3/4-inch slices
- 2 * 2 tablespoons Crisco® Extra Virgin Olive Oil, divided
- 1 * 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 * 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 * 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 2 * 2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
- 1 * 1 cup boiling water
- 1 * 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 3 * 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 * 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 * 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 * 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 to 2 * 1 to 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 * 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 * 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 3 * 3 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) stewed tomatoes, cut up
- 2 * 2 cans (15 ounces each) pinto beans, rinsed and drained
- * Shredded cheddar cheese

- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 3 bay leaves
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme, plus more to finish
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Unsalted butter
- 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/8-inch-thick slices

- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan, plus more for broiling

- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 2 tsp. parsley flakes
- 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
- 2-3 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese

- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbs. Ketchup
- I tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup minced fresh parsley
- 1 tsp. Salt
- 1/4 tsp. Pepper
- 1 1/2 lbs. Lean ground beef
- 3 tbs. All purpose flour
- 2 tbs. Butter or margarine
- 2 tbs. All purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. Dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 can (14 oz.) chicken broth
- 2/3 cup whipping cream
- 2 tbs. Minced fresh parsley
