Ingredients

  • Utensils: 7 QT WOK & 11" Large Skillet & Rack

  • Caramel:

  • 1

    cup sugar

  • 1

    cup sweetened macapuno ( I forgot to put this on mine and just used it as a garnish, it works too!)

  • Custard/ Flan:

  • 1

    can evaporated milk

  • 8

    egg yolks

  • 1

    can condensed milk

  • For the Cake:

  • 1

    box of Yellow Cake Mix

  • 1/3

    cup of water

  • 6

    egg yolks

  • 1 1/4

    cup egg whites

  • 1/2

    teaspoon cream of tartar

  • 3/4

    cup sugar

  • 1/2

    tsp vanilla

Directions

Here’s How: Caramelize sugar using the 11" large Skillet. Combine the ingredients for the custard in a bowl, stir to blend. Set aside. Prepare Cake: Make a well at the center then add egg yolks and water. Mix with a wire whisk until smooth. Prepare Meringue: In a separate bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form. (Use electric blender). Add sugar gradually and continue beating until stiff. Fold into the cake mixture. Steam for 30 minutes. Invert on a serving plattter.
