Chili recipe that originated with my uncle, Harless McSwain of Wateree, South Carolina

  • These ingredients are adjustable to your taste.
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1/3 c. hot water
  • 1 cup (more or less) chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup (more or less) chopped green pepper
  • 1 can Bush's chili beans, drained (original recipe calls for 2 cans)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. monosodium glutamate (MSG) (Accent)
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon chili powder (I use more)

Melt butter (45-60 seconds) in 2-cup uncovered glass measuring cup

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 2/3 cup Ritz (or round butter flavored) crackers, crushed
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 can shoe peg corn, drained
  • 1 can French green beans, drained
  • 1 can cream of celery soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

  • 1 1/2 lbs. round steak cut into thin strips
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 green peppers chopped
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 Tbsp. all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce

  • 2 c. lukewarm water
  • 4 c. self-rising flour

  • 3 cups mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/3 c. butter, melted
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

  • 1/2 c. soft butter
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

  • 1 pkg. fresh cranberries
  • 1 small orange (seeds removed)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 small boxes of red jello
  • 2 1/2 cups boiling water

  • For topping:
  • 1 pkg. Knox gelatin
  • 1 /2 cup cold water
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

  • Cranberry Honey Granola Bars
  • 3 ounces vegetable oil
  • 1 ounce water
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2/3 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup crisp rice cereal
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 cup chopped dried cranberries

  • Glaze:
  • 3 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 to 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 box Duncan Hines butter-flavored cake mix
  • 1 small box instant French vanilla pudding
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 c. canola oil
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. confectioners' sugar
  • 2-4 tsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla or combination of vanilla and lemon
