- For the Cookies:
- 5 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup butter flavored shortening (such as Crisco)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- For the Frosting:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 3 to 4 tbsp heavy cream
- Christmas Sugar Cookie Recipe:
- These sugar cookies are different than your typical cookie, because they do not brown when baked.
- You’ll bake them just until they’re set in the middle and then take them out to cool.
- If you let them cook too long they’ll end up crumbly and brittle.

- 4 slices bread
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon dried leaf basil or dill weed
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

- 3 cups torn romaine lettuce leaves
- 3 cups torn mixed greens
