Strawberry Oatmeal Bars

- 1 3/4 sticks salted butter, cut into pieces, plus more for greasing pan

- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- One 10 to 12-ounce jar strawberry preserves
Cranberry Conserve

In a medium heavy saucepan combine cranberries and water and cook until berries burst, about 10 minutes
- 1 pound fresh cranberries
- 1 cup water
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 whole orange, seeds removed, chopped (about 1 cup)

- 1 cup peeled and chopped pear
