Heat the oil in a Dutch oven or stock pot

  • Meatballs:
  • 2 Large onions, chopped
  • 2-4 cloves fresh garlic,minced
  • 1/3 cup Olive oil
  • 5 cups fresh tomatoes, peeled and chopped (6-8 large tomatoes)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 Tblsp. Hungarian Sweet Paprika
  • 1 tsp. California Basil
  • 1-2 Tblsp. Turkish Oregano
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1/4-1/2 Penzeys freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp. California Crushed Red peppers
  • 2 6oz. cans tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup fresh bread crumbs
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced (1 tsp. minced garlic)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. Penzeys freshly ground pepper
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 Tblsp. flour for dusting
