Italian Sugar Cookies

COOKIES In large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy
- COOKIES
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- ICING
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
- optional - food coloring and coarse sugar
Maple Walnut Mini Loaves

Preheat oven to 400. Grease 4 mini-loaf pans
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup toasted chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/3 cup sweet butter or margarine, melted and cooled
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Maple Shortbread Cookies

Beat the butter with the sugars, vanilla, and maple flavor until well-blended
- Topping:
- 1 cup (8 oz.) unsalted butter (at cool room temperature)
- 1/2 cup (3 oz.) pure maple sugar
- 1/4 cup (1 3/4 oz.) granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp maple flavor (optional)
- 2 1/2 cups (10 1/2 oz.) unbleached, all-purpose flour
- 2 tb. (3/4 oz.) pure maple sugar
Chocolate Chip Meringues

1. In a large bowl, with a mixer on high speed, beat egg whites with cream of tartar until thick and foamy
- 2 large egg whites
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. almond extract
- 1 c. finely chopped semisweet chocolate (6 oz.) or miniature semisweet chocolate chips
Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- 4 cups all-purpose flour [wax or parchment paper for sifting flour]
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/8 tsp cream of tartar
- 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups plus 2 tbsp mashed ripe bananas (about 4 small bananas)
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 12 oz. miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips
Chocolate Crinkles

A dark chocolate batter is rolled into balls and dropped in confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup lightly packed dark brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
Drunken Chicken

- 6 boneless and skinless chicken thighs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 can (16 oz.) tomato sauce
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar

- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- Sugar (for sprinkling on top of muffins)
Lemon Glazed Cookies

1. With an electric mixer, beat the butter and granulated sugar until fluffy
- 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup confectioner's sugar
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (more, if necessary)
- 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
- (Ensure you also have wax paper and parchment paper on hand.)
