Hungarian Stuffed Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs ground beef
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 1 small bunch parsley, chopped
  • 1 raw apple
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 scant cup raw rice (not minute rice)
  • 2 cans applesauce
  • handful of brown sugar
  • curry powder and chili powder to taste
  • 1 large babbage
  • 3 quarts sauerkraut
  • 2 cans tomatoes
  • 2 46oz cans tomatoe juice

Preparation

Step 1

Mix together fist 10 ingredients
Do not add salt

Break off leaves from head of cabbage
Blanch cabbage leaves in boiling water for 2-3 min. (until the leaf bends not until it is done)

Line roaster pan or large soup pot with sauerkraut-drained
canned tomatoes and tomato juice
Add more brown sugar

Mold meat into oblong rolls
Put into cabbage leaves, secure with toothpicks

Put into roaster.
Bake at 250'-300'
