  • 2 c sifted flour
  • 2 t. Baking powder
  • 4 large egg yolks separated
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/3 c water
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1/3 c orange juice
  • 2 t grated orange zest
  • 4 T melted butter
  • 1/4 t salt



Step 1

Sift flour and b p together set aside
In a mixing bowl, add yolks and beat to break them up, then add water and 1 1/2 c sugar. Add zest Continue beating til mixture is light in color, about a min. or so
Whisk in the flour until smooth.
In another large bowl, place egg whites, salt. Whisk until whites are very white and stiff to hold its shape beat in remaining sugar. Whip til stiff and glossy.
Slowly add flour folding each time. Do this til wellmixed.
Place in a prepared tube pan.
Bake 350
35 min. Or til finger touch is sponges

Remove cake from pan and cool on wire rack


11/2 c powdered sugar
1/4 c strained orange juice
