Ice Water White Cake

  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Shortening
  • 3 1/2 Cups Cake Flour
  • 3/4 tsp. Salt
  • 3 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1 1/2 Cups Ice Water
  • 4 Egg Whites
  • Flavor to taste (vanilla, lemon, orange, pineapple, or coconut extract)



Step 1

Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually and beat until fluffy. Sift flour. Measure and add salt and baking powder. Add dry ingredients alternately with ice water. Beat well after each addition. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites last. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. MUST use ice water or cake will not be nice.
